Smart Web Data Extraction Tool
Introduction
Welcome to DATAFYNOW. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how our Chrome extension works. This privacy policy explains what data our extension handles, how it's stored, and your rights regarding your data.
What is DATAFYNOW?
DATAFYNOW is a Chrome browser extension that helps users extract structured data from web pages. The extension allows you to:
- Select and label elements on any webpage
- Automatically detect repeating patterns in web content
- Export scraped data to Excel or JSON formats
- Save and reuse extraction templates for frequently visited websites
Information We Handle
Data You Actively Scrape
When you use DATAFYNOW to extract data from websites, the extension temporarily stores:
- Selected Element Content: Text, links, images, or other content you choose to extract from web pages
- Element Labels: Custom labels you assign to scraped elements (e.g., "Product Title", "Price", "Description")
- Element Selectors: Technical information about where elements are located on the page (CSS selectors, XPath) to enable pattern detection
- Extraction Templates: Saved configurations that allow you to reuse scraping patterns on similar pages
Where Your Data is Stored
All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API.
Your scraped data, templates, and settings are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage area. This data:
- Never leaves your device
- Is not transmitted to our servers or any third-party servers
- Remains private and under your control
- Is only accessible by the DATAFYNOW extension on your browser
Data We Do NOT Collect
DATAFYNOW does not collect, track, or transmit:
- Personal identification information
- Browsing history or website visit patterns
- User behavior analytics or tracking data
- IP addresses or device information
- Cookies or tracking identifiers
- Any data to external servers or third parties
Chrome Extension Permissions
To function properly, DATAFYNOW requires certain Chrome permissions. Here's what each permission is used for and why it's necessary:
Allows the extension to access the currently active tab when you click the extension icon. This is necessary to enable element selection and data extraction on the page you're viewing.
Enables local storage of your scraped data and saved templates on your device. All storage is local; no data is sent to external servers.
Allows the extension to inject scripts that enable element selection overlay, pattern detection, and data extraction functionality on web pages.
Required to communicate between the extension popup and the content scripts running on your active tab for coordinated data extraction.
Enables you to export your scraped data as Excel (.xlsx) or JSON files to your computer's download folder.
Allows the extension to work on any website you visit. This is necessary because data extraction needs vary across different websites. You control when and where the extension operates.
How We Use Your Data
The data you extract using DATAFYNOW is used solely for the following purposes:
- Display in Extension UI: Showing your scraped elements and data in the extension popup interface
- Pattern Detection: Analyzing selected elements to automatically detect repeating structures on web pages
- Template Creation: Saving extraction patterns you create for reuse on similar websites
- Data Export: Converting your scraped data to Excel or JSON formats for download
All processing happens locally in your browser. Your data is never transmitted to external servers.
Data Retention and Deletion
How Long We Keep Data
Data is retained in your browser's local storage until you explicitly delete it. The extension stores:
- Scraped elements in the current session (until you start a new scrape or clear data)

- Click "New Scrape" to start fresh and clear previous session data
Delete Saved Templates:
- Open the Templates view in the extension
- Click the "×" button next to any template you want to delete
Delete All Extension Data:

Data Security
We take data security seriously:
- Local Storage: All data is stored using Chrome's secure storage API, which is sandboxed and isolated from other websites and extensions
- No Network Transmission: The extension does not make any network requests to external servers with your data
- Extension Isolation: Chrome's extension security model ensures DATAFYNOW cannot access data from other extensions or Chrome itself
- No Authentication Required: DATAFYNOW doesn't require accounts, passwords, or login credentials, eliminating authentication-related security risks
