Smart Web Data Extraction Tool

Last Updated: April 17, 2026

Introduction

Welcome to DATAFYNOW. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how our Chrome extension works. This privacy policy explains what data our extension handles, how it's stored, and your rights regarding your data.

Key Point:DATAFYNOW runs locally in your browser and only syncs saved templates and account data to our servers when you are logged in - your scraped data and session activity never leave your device.

What is DATAFYNOW?

DATAFYNOW is a Chrome browser extension that helps users extract structured data from web pages. The extension allows you to:

  • Select and label elements on any webpage
  • Automatically detect repeating patterns in web content
  • Export scraped data to Excel or JSON formats
  • Save and reuse extraction templates for frequently visited websites

Information We Handle

Data You Actively Scrape

When you use DATAFYNOW to extract data from websites, the extension temporarily stores:

  • Selected Element Content: Text, links, images, or other content you choose to extract from web pages
  • Element Labels: Custom labels you assign to scraped elements (e.g., "Product Title", "Price", "Description")
  • Element Selectors: Technical information about where elements are located on the page (CSS selectors, XPath) to enable pattern detection
  • Extraction Templates: Saved configurations that allow you to reuse scraping patterns on similar pages

Where Your Data is Stored

When you are logged in to a Datafy account, the following is also securely synced to our servers over an encrypted HTTPS connection:

  • Saved extraction templates
  • Account settings and preferences
  • Scraping run history

If you are not logged in, your scraped data, templates, and settings:

  • Stay exclusively in your browser's local storage
  • Are never transmitted to our servers or any third party
  • Are not accessible by anyone outside your device

Data We Do NOT Collect

DATAFYNOW does not collect or transmit:

  • Your browsing history or websites you visit
  • Tracking, advertising, or analytics data
  • Cookies or identifiers from websites you visit
  • Any data from pages where you have not activated the extension

When you are logged in, we only collect what is necessary to run your account:

  • Your email address and password (for login)
  • Templates you choose to save
  • Basic run info (e.g. which template was used, how many records extracted)

We do not sell your data. We only use it to provide the service to you.

Chrome Extension Permissions

To function properly, DATAFYNOW requires certain Chrome permissions. Here's what each permission is used for and why it's necessary:

activeTab

Allows the extension to access the currently active tab when you click the extension icon. This is necessary to enable element selection and data extraction on the page you're viewing.

storage

Enables local storage of your scraped data and saved templates on your device. All storage is local; no data is sent to external servers.

scripting

Allows the extension to inject scripts that enable element selection overlay, pattern detection, and data extraction functionality on web pages.

tabs

Required to communicate between the extension popup and the content scripts running on your active tab for coordinated data extraction.

downloads

Enables you to export your scraped data as Excel (.xlsx) or JSON files to your computer's download folder.

host_permissions: <all_urls>

Allows the extension to work on any website you visit. This is necessary because data extraction needs vary across different websites. You control when and where the extension operates.

Important:While the extension has permission to access all websites, it only activates and processes data when you explicitly click the extension icon and start selecting elements. The extension does not run automatically in the background.

How We Use Your Data

The data you extract using DATAFYNOW is used solely for the following purposes:

  1. Display in Extension UI: Showing your scraped elements and data in the extension popup interface
  2. Pattern Detection: Analyzing selected elements to automatically detect repeating structures on web pages
  3. Template Creation: Saving extraction patterns you create for reuse on similar websites
  4. Data Export: Converting your scraped data to Excel or JSON formats for download

All processing happens locally in your browser. When you are logged in, saved templates and run history are synced to our servers solely to provide the service to you - we do not use your data for any other purpose.

Data Security

Server-Side Security (for logged-in users)
